Dunman Secondary School Choir has established itself as one of the top school choirs in Singapore since its formation in 1992.
After barely three years under the directorship of Toh Ban Sheng, it became the first neighbourhood school choir to clinch the Gold Award at the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Choral Competition in 1997. It went on to consistently garner top awards and three consecutive Gold with Honours locally. In Europe, it has won numerous Gold diplomas, special prizes such as the Repertoire Prize, Outstanding Performance Prize of Contemporary Work, Conductor’s Prizes and the Festival Laureate at international festivals.
The choir has toured Australia, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, New Zealand, Poland, Slovakia and the United Kingdom, and performed to a full house at the Esplanade. It is committed to helping its members deepen their passion and talent, as well as touching lives through music-making.
This is Dunman Secondary School Choir’s fifth year performing at Esplanade’s Limelight. The choir will present highlights such as Chorus of Love, Home, Carpenter’s Top of the World, Duruflé’s Ubi Caritas, as well as favourite tunes such as Circle of Life.
Bringing the arts to communities in need through Limelight
Half of the ticket proceeds will go toward supporting Esplanade’s community engagement programmes that bring the arts to at-risk youth, the elderly, people with special needs and other underserved communities.
