Details

Established in 1967 as a military school band, Crescent Girls’ School Symphonic Band (CGSSB) has since then expanded to become a symphonic band with a fuller range of instruments, under the steadfast guidance of the band’s founder, Lee Seck Chiang, and his protégés Tan Soh Hwa and Chua Tiong Hong.

The band lives by the motto, “Et Bientot le Meilleur” (The Best is Yet to Be) and always put in their best efforts with zeal and zest to achieve what they set out to do. The band has garnered many accolades at adjudications at Singapore Youth Festival, Singapore International Band Festival and National Band Competition. The band had also staged Limelight by Esplanade for the past decade and numerous other concerts and performances in the 52 years since its establishment.

The band acknowledges that all these would not have been possible without the dedication and support of their teachers, family and friends. They are grateful for all the love shown to them and will strive to deliver yet another Limelight concert to look forward to.

Highlights of CGSSB’s 9th Limelight in 2019:

* Fate of the Gods by Steven Reineke
* Les Misérables arranged by Johnnie Vinson
* Spirited Away by Joe Hisaishi
* Bonsai Tree by Julie Ann Giroux
* You Can’t Stop the Beat arranged by Ted Ricketts
* Flower Crown by Naoya Wada
* The Knight of the Sky by Hiroaki Kataoka
* Wizard of Oz arranged by James Barnes
