Details

The MANdolin & Beyond is an Arte Compass initiative started in 2016 as a tribute to the Legendary Mandolin Maestro U. Shrinivas (28 February 1969 – 19 September 2014). Late Maestro Padma Shri U. Shrinivas the rarest of musical geniuses, embodied the change that stretched beyond time and boundaries, fusing Indian classical music with other forms of world music. He was also regarded as the Mozart of classical Indian music.

The phenomenal success of the first edition inspired Arte Compass to make this an annual Tribute to the MAN who continues to inspire us. The 4th edition of Mandolin & Beyond in 2019 will also be a significant concert to mark the 50th Birth Anniversary of Shri U. Shrinivas. The event is on Saturday, 2nd March, 2019 7:30pm at Esplanade Concert Hall.

The 2019 edition will be a musical concert with a mix of Classical, Contemporary & Fusion by an ensemble of world class musicians celebrating the legacy of U. Shrinivas.
Featuring some of the world’s renowned musicians with whom the late Maestro U. Shrinivas has collaborated with namely, his brother U. Rajesh (Mandolin), Purbayan Chatterjee (Sitar), Ustad Fazal Qureshi (Tabla), Stephen Devassy (Keyboard), Pete Lockett (Drums) along with Vijay Prakash (Vocals).
